The PhD and Masters courses offered by the Institute of Physics Gleb Wataghin (IFGW) train researchers and professors in various areas of physics.
Since its inception in 1970, the IFGW has graduated more than 670 PhDs and 900 Masters. The program is graded 7 (maximum score) in the national CAPES evaluative processes for the last triennia, 1998-2000 to 2007-2009.
A major strength of the graduate program of IFGW is the universality and quality of its faculty. The IFGW currently has about 80 full-time professors, trained in the best universities. Their research activities extend over almost all areas of physics.
The training provided by the Masters and Doctoral courses encompasses the following interrelated aspects:
- oriented research;
- participation in seminars, conferences, etc;
- interaction with experienced researchers.
IFGW annually produces about 250 papers in refereed journals of international prestige, while graduate students take part of about 40 % of this production. The scientific production of the Institute may be followed at the IFGW Abstracta page.
